Description: This is a botanical study of Lagunaria patersonia, the Norfolk Island hibiscus.
It is an Australian tree, originally from Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, and parts of Queensland. The seed capsules that are depicted here follow a profusion of pink flowers.

Description: Featured here are flowers and a leaf of Zantedeschia aethiopica, the graceful white arum lily. This plant is native to Southern Africa, and is now widespread throughout the world. I did this drawing some years ago when I was attending the Ruth Tuck Art School in Adelaide.
Medium: Drawing on yellow-toned medium weight paper. The background and details are cross-hatched using graphite and a few highlights are added in white conte pencil.

Description: This is a botanical study of a Cymbidium orchid that lives in a large terracotta pot in my garden. It flowers magnificently every winter, producing a dozen or more exotic dark red blooms that sparkle in the sunlight.
